    It is a good chambering. It's flatter shooting than the .45-70 it seems at least. But I do prefer the .45-70 for brush hunting grizzlys. What have you killed with yours Sawman?


    I absolutely love this chambering. I really believe using the 300gr WFNGC (hard cast) or the Hornady 300gr XTP's this gun would get it done. I have killed some of the bigger animals with mine.

    Several moose. Two cows that were 600lbs or so. A bull that was about the same weight. Two black bear that were 225lbs or so. And a very nice 10pt buck that (Maine) dressed at 265lbs.
    All of these were with the 300gr Hornady XTP when they first came out . . . and before that,with the 265's. Hornady origionally designed the 265's for the 444Marlin and factory loaded these for some years.
