It's been a long time, but I've shot a 357 lever gun with full magnum loads in the past, and the recoil was pretty timid. Granted, it was also a relatively heavy rifle with octagon barrel. It's a round I already load for which is also a nice draw. Lots of components on hand. A#9 is something I have plenty of in stock, along with small primers. Not to mention plenty of 125 and 158gr jhp and fmj. Only thing I don't have a lot of is .357 brass, but I have a a few thousand .38 for plinking.I think a rifle in .357 Magnum would do well for you. I've shot a hog with one using 185gr lead but most people probably use 158gr which would have less recoil. One hundred yards should not be a problem at all for you, and as you indicated, it sure is an easy cartridge to reload.
