1972 Ithaca 12 gauge M37 DS Police Special. 20" barrel; 8 shot @ 2 3/4" shells only, LOP 13 7/8", slam-fire capable.
This gun was said to come from a police armory in N.C. although no markings to designate. Service and repair over the years shows a very nice stock repair at the top of the receiver and newer magazine cap and yoke. There is a small crack on the bottom of the stock at the trigger guard. Also a skipping drag-scratch on the barrel, like someone closed a door on it while it was being pulled out. Who knows... $800 SOLD

What's the difference between this and a reg 37?

The extended magazine tube ( 8 shot) and parkerized finish mainly. The "Deerslayer" (DS) barrel used on this police special, is tighter at the forcing cone. It was an accuracy selling point for slug barrels before rifled slug barrels came along. Some services liked the DS sights too. By the numbers, DS Police Specials are more rare than M&P bead sighted barrels, but whose counting.
