In need of a S&W rear sight for a 686 older modle (no dash or exter number)

What I need: Rear sight with the square leading edge of the mounting plate for a 686 with a 6" in barrel. Sight height must be .146"

Here's the story: I recently acquired this gun in a trade. It was configured with a pistol scope so rear sight had been removed and lost. I thought it would be easy to find a rear sight for this but this is the older model with the square leading edge of the mounting plate. The new models screw wholes don't line up and I really don't want to tap yet another whole in this gun. One gun smith I spoke with yesterday (at Jay's I can't remember his name) told me that no one sells them, not even Smith and he has two guns he's trying to locate them for now as well. He also said that no one makes an after market sight for them either. If anyone can help please PM me.

I had the exact issue with a 629. I ended up getting a sight from eBay. There are a bunch listed there. Expect to pay $80 - $100.
