Could it be possible the stoner 63 is just a modified BAR it looks like all they did was put a heavy stock on it replace the receiver with a belt feed and swap the caliber . look at a side by side to see what im thinking . i cant find solid proof that its just a rebuild.

My take is it was a further, natural evolution from his (Eugene) original modular design, the AR-10.
