So will these not work in a gen 4?

If I'm not mistaken, it will interchange with All Generations of that model. To my knowledge, the only differences in the generations are the Backstrap additions, ambidextrous mag release (mags cut on both sides), and the frame rail for adding laser sights or lights.

Yes... they will fit Gen 4's.

There is a slight difference in Glock OEM Gen 4 barrels vs Glock OEM Gen 3's barrels in that the crescent where the guide rod sits on the barrel is slightly larger; however, all aftermarket Glock barrels will fit both Gen 3's & Gen 4's.
