Went to my lease yesterday and didn't want to carry a shotgun but I don't have a wheel gun to shoot shotshells out of, so I stopped and go some CCI shotshells for my G19. I was under the impression that shotshells didn't have enough power to cycle auto's so they needed to be hand cycled. Much to my surprise they cycled perfectly...granted I only shot 5 or 6 rounds but the gun didn't seem to have any issues with them. Anyone else have any experience running shotshells through an auto?

Here's the result of a couple of the rounds

They cycle my 23 just fine, and I trust that enough to almost always have one on top of the stack when I'm in the woods. Can't speak for anything other than CCI on that one though.

I've tried the 22's in a semi auto and they wouldn't cycle. I'm a big fan of the 38/357 CCI's in my LCR.

I wish I had put something down for scale. That joker was about 5.5ft long and bigger around than my forearm. 13 rattles and a button.

Nice! This one was 4.5' and had 12 rattles with a button. Also had 17 live babies in it!

I jumped up another one that was bigger than this one and while I was scanning around looking for that one I found this one sitting a couple feet away

    38/357 in an LCP ?
Where did you kill that snake anyway ? Timber rattlers aren't too common right around here. More common a little further north into Alabama.

Excellent job on the rattlers men! My .22's won't cycle in my rifle or Colt Woodsman pistol. Haven't tried any 9mm in my M&P...
.45LC shotshells do a great job in the Bond Arms Snake SlayerIV but it's a 2 shot SA - nothing to cycle!
Nice kills on the timber rattlers! That's the way I like 'em - dead!!!

That surprises me that shotshells will cycle in a G19. That's nice to know. I've only tried them in a 10/22 and it quickly became a single shot.
I've never seen a Timber Rattler. Not that I want to but it would be kind of cool.
Seems like one I saw on another forum a couple of years ago was killed in Andalusia. In a pump house I believe.

I hate snakes! What effect (if any) does shot shell have on the rifling of a barrel, especially a stainless barrel?

Any thoughts on running the lead pellets through a Glock? I have been carrying a Judge with 3" .410s & 7 1/2 birdshot but it gets real heavy real fast. Would love to use my Glock 21 instead.
