Nope! I may drive by there this afternoon and peek through the fence to see what progress I can see.

Here is what I observed this afternoon:

14 shooting stations with new target stands.

From 25 yards in to the target stands, graded and prepared for some type of paving.

    Dirt bank/backstop filled in.

The most interesting feature thus far, looks to be a concrete foundation for a 50 yard shooing station that's positioned on the south end of the range.

Seeing that I was able to drive in, I’ll continue to check progress.

Thanks for the update! When you mention that there are new target stands, are they moveable stands or affixed to the berm like the current stands? I'm hoping there will be moveable stands as this would solve the frequent problem of shooters wanting to shoot from different distances.

Welcome to the forum, Fmjblack! Do you shoot at the FOP range often?

Thanks, I shoot at the range pretty often. I usually try to make it out there on Sundays. It will be nice if we have the option to shoot from 50 yards, we'll just have to be considerate of those who want to shoot pistols closer up.

Cool. I'm sure I'll see you out there pretty soon. I'll be the one shooting quarter size groups at 25yds. :behindsofa:

That sounds a little more realistic for me, too. How did you find out about the forum?

I ran into this thread searching for information about the upgrades to the range. I've also heard the forum randomly mentioned a couple of times in conversations with local firearms enthusiasts.

Since I met you guys, I've bought 2 handguns and all the ammo I've been able to find. Now I'm feeling the need for a long gun. There was a time, about 45 years ago, that the military considered me an expert with a M16. I spend too much time reading this forum. You guys are a bad influence.

The good news is: Fairhope WalMart has had .223 and 9MM sitting on the shelf for about three days now. Either they are getting more or people are buying less.
