    Item Description No1 Mk3 Enfield Grenade Launching Rifle. Caliber .303 British 25 inch barrel.
    Rifle made at Ishapore Arsenal India in 1949 under the rule of the King of England. Marked with the
    British Crown and GRI. Original copper wire wrapped stock with reinforcing recoil bolt through the stock.
    Stock looks to be excellent and bore is "Pristine" Very slick action on this rifle. Rare to find "Grenade" Rifle in this nice of shape. Rifle acquired through trade.

    I dont mean to be a dumb@## but is that cosmoline, all the black and red coating all over?

    No, the red and black is not cosmoline. There may be some grease or old cosmoline on the receiver and bolt but these rifles were painted over a phosphate or bare metal. The Grenade Launching Rifles had a Red Band painted all around the action and stock, including the magazine and bolt to also help differentiate them from regular rifles which were just painted black. The paint is not really chipping off. Some of it is wearing away as the paint did not always hold up. This is the original finish. To redo it would likely detract from the collector value.

    These are strong rifles with the added recoil bolt and the wire wrap which looks very well done on this one . A cool piece of history. Very comfortable to shoot too with the added weight. Nice that this one has a great bore too kind of rare with these. Might you have a launcher for it?
