this might not be as exciting as some of the solutions proposed here but i found that a small net on a long pole works great. scoop them out of the air, slam it on the ground then pound their fucking armored bodies to mush. very satisfying.

They make salt of different sizes for bees and wasps btw! I'm on my 2nd bugasalt now as I wore my first one out when we lived in GA...
