Make sure to budget for the "right" illuminator.
Your scopes magnification should match your illuminator power.
20X is unuseable. A human eye can see a IR illuminator that produces 830nm of light. So can a coyote, deer, and hogs. Hogs don't care, but at the closer ranges, deer do,and coyotes will sometimes spook.
The 940nm IR illuminatore cannot be seen by humans or critters. However your NVD might NOT be able to use this higher tech. Also I believe the 830 units have a slightly longer range.
Check out the units with variable width beams. This is the way that I would go.

Yes sir.
I would reccomend a 830nm with ADJUSTABLE WIDTH BEAM. (You usually simply turn the ring on the objective end.)
I would also reccomend that you do some experimentation with pointing it directly at a yote at <50yds. Might spook ... might not. With a small amount of ambient light and a good (Gen 3) unit, you just might not need the illuminator under those circumstances. (BUT DEFINATELY HAVE ONE AVAILABLE) --- SAWMAN
