Best way to learn how to build is hands on IMHO, but this is a good book to learn the ins and outs of a 1911.

Hands on with a good teacher...lol Otherwise, you end up out alot of cash and a whole lot of ruint parts...lol The hardest part is knowing where and how much material to remove and what is acceptable( when to leave it alone).
