Another “What Is This”?

Most of you have seen my ads, selling stuff for a widowed neighbor.
I stopped by there today and she gave me a mag belt with pouches holding 8 clips of what appears to be 30/06. 5 cartridges per clip.
Anybody recognize them?
My first thought was M-1 Garand but that doesn’t look like other clips I’ve seen plus I think they hold 8 rounds.
Any ideas?

If that's .06, for a BAR??

What you have does look very similar to this 303 image, but it's not an exact match. But considering similarity, maybe Brit in origin??

I really don’t know. I thought it was 30/06 at first but they do look similar. I need to get a 30/06 shell out of my ammo stash and compare them.
I think a BAR uses 20 or 30 round mags.
I found this pic on internet 303 on left, 30/06 on right.

Notice the .303 on the left has a rim that the .30-06 on the right doesn't. The ammo in your clip has a rim. I believe Daezee nailed it. That clip will mount into the receiver. The shooter can push 5 rounds in like a speed loader of sorts. BTW your picture is a great comparison example.
