A good rule of thumb is stamped receiver AKs are generally either all AKM or AK100 series patterns if imported as-is. Exceptions to this are parts kit builds and Yugo rifles (NPAP, OPAP, M70 series, etc), but most imported guns are one of these two patterns.

Milled receiver guns (with the exception of some of Century's new rifles) are generally AK47 pattern. You can delve deeper into it (like how some of Arsenal's milled guns use 90 degree gas blocks, Type 2 and 3 AK47s, etc), but generally this is the case.

I am just going from the original AK, AKM, and AKMS (folding stock) models. The overlaps between can confuse even the most well versed historians.

Thanks Dan - i'm actually have'n 2nd thoughts on breakin up w/her ! This is one of the nicest looking AK's I've had in the herd....but trying to get some 'mad money' together for a pending K2 purchase If nothing works out here by New Yrs....i'll be forced to just keep her !!
