I forgot about the Model 52. S&W redesigned the Model 39 specifically to function feed properly with wad cutters for competition use. This bullet design has a lot of current use.

FWIW. I've read, and I can't remember where probably on al gore's amazing internet, that these 147 grain wad cutters were an ideal defense round for a 38/357 revolver. If I'm remembering right it's because they're loaded sub sonic plus they are heavy for caliber and very accurate. More accurate than the 158 grain SWC.
