Just wanted to share my build up I started. I was looking for something different that the norm for me so decided to try the 300 blackout craze. I'm still waiting on my barrel and rail to arrive.

Today I sprayed some Cerakote. I'm trying to give it that old brass steam punk look.
I'll update post as I make progress.

Minor progress. Still no eta on my barrel. I either lost the c clip for the dust cover or it didn't come in the upper build kit.

That's got a cool look to it. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished. I always thought the steam punk look was pretty cool. I just haven't got the skills to make something look like that.

That's pretty wicked looking. I'm not a steam punk guru but is wood furniture part of the scheme or is that just antique look? Awesome finish FNH.

What's the process to get a finish like this?

    Smitty

I probably did it backwards but I sprayed the bronze first, baked for 20 min at 180 deg or so. Then sprayed armor black and waited a few min for it tack over "it never dries until baking but it gets sticky" then wipe/sponge off. If you don't wait 5 min or so the black won't stay in the low spots and wipes off to easily. After lots of trying to get it just right and messing up and was satisfied enough to do the final bake at 300 degrees.

The rail finally came in but the barrel still hasn't shipped, ordered it on the 1st. I'll have to send them an email seeing what's up. I'll spray the rest to match when the barrel arrives.

Not really sure what to do for a grip. Thinking about some sort of broom handle style? Or maybe something that looks like an old pipe and cap on the bottom. Not sure if I'll use the sign brace much, depends on how it turns out really, might fab a check piece out of something odd?

Thanks for the info. I might try this out in the very near future.

Not much of an update but I had to call the credit card company to refund my barrel purchase from the end of last year. I emailed and the place I bought it from and never heard anything other then one email from mid January and stated nothing other than a tracking number. The tracking number was never received by USPS and company never returned any voice mails I left over the last few months. The company was Twin River Arms.

So I've ordered from a different place now and I hope to finish this build.

Turned down the muzzle can on my lathe today, now it fits in the rail.

i have just started a 300 BLK pistol build myself, albeit a bit more traditional looking than yours. The "brass" steampunk finish looks really cool. I can't wait to see it completed!

My new barrel came in today, that was some fast shipping! Ordered this one from Law-Guns. Looks great can't wait to get rail and a few other items painted this weekend and put this thing together.

Got enough done to put it together. I ended up installing a 3.5lb CMC trigger and a Ambush Tactical carrier group. Hope to make it to the range this week and try it out. If all goes well I'm going to try to make a silicone mold and pour some acrylic for an interesting grip.
