    Probably doesn’t have a letter prefix, looks more like a M&P 38 to me (pre model 10). Could be wrong though

    You’re right, BUT,
    It probably has a v prefix since it’s parkerized and chambered in 38 s&w(or as the Commonwealth would say, 38/200, and that’s probably who used it due to the Vega import stamp over the trigger).
    A picture of the top strap would I think show us gov property marks, and a picture of the bottom of the grip frame would show a lanyard hole or maybe even the lanyard loop.
    That looks like a victory if I’ve ever seen one, with what looks like original grips(that may even be number matched to the frame).

    The grips look like original, in good shape. Can't guarantee they are the original for that revolver.
