I hadn't been in one in several years. First, $10 to get in, last time I went it was $7.

Second, there was a noticeable absence of USGI hardware, plenty of Mausers, Enfields, Yogos but only 1 M-1, no carbines, no 03s, no M-1As. How long have USGI rifles been so rare?

Several factors . Prices on straight guns in better than avg mechanical shape are up there . Scarcity as they aint making no more of 'em . Collector interest .
IMHO one rarely finds a motivated buyer for these or any other collector grade items at local shows anymore . Only national shows like Tulsa & Louisville will have the buyers & hence the sellers of these type items . You & I have discussed this . To me the extra $ 500 a gun selling price makes the effort worthwhile . I'm am much more inclined to bargin with a buyer who knows what he's looking at , what fair market price is for said item in said condition than some local tire-kickin' lowballin' flipper . Gunbroker & auction are also viable . Numerous quality hi-def pics , factual documentation etc all lead to higher selling prices as does national exposure .
