Anyone got experience with any? Bought a Winchester Wildcat and was thinking about grabbing a GSG 10/22 drum. Seems to be the best rated, but interested in anyone's experiences with the others.
Well. When I got back I to guns and got my first 10/22 I also went big.. kinda. Bought a either 15 or 20 round stick mag. And I quickly learned I could no longer shoot from a rest position at all. And when I did the force of the table bending mag etc would induce feed malfunctions if I recall correctly. So I took a look at the tiny 10 rounder mags and said to heck with having a few super big clunky mags when I could simply have alot more smaller mags and many times have a higher ammo count in less space. I never bothered with the drum mags. Typically they're trouble and jam.. and I doubt they'd be worth the price.. and the added bulk associated with them. Only way I'd see one being worth the trouble is if maybe ya dropped a binary trigger in it and wanted to just hose down a target non stop for fun. Other than that, as far as me anyways.. I just stick with the 10 rounders that flush fit. Others may have varying opinions tho
Heheh.. ikr. I traded my stick mags on the 22 to the neighbor for his 10 rounders. But yeah mainly cause I upgraded from a Ruger to a carbon fiber Bergara. Planned to have it setup by now to get into long range plinking fun. But moved onto to other projects and still have a cheap scope on it. But yeah from a rest usually. Again not saying stick mags are bad. Just bulky when ya compare it to three 10 rounders. And in my case I'm not needing rapid fire. So just didn't make sense to buy more. But if I had a regular 10/22 again.. which I may soon. I'd drop one of the binaries in it and yeah grab some bigger mags and do some fun mag dumps
I had a drum mag for my 10/22 and had lots of issues. Now if that was the no name old drum I found at a pawn shop or the dirty 10-22 or the Remington thunderbolt ammo I was using.... Who knows.
I have a Black Dog Machine drum mag that works really well in my AR. I know they have a 10/22 version but I haven’t used it. You can also buy separate towers and use the same drum on both 10/22 and AR if you have a .22 conversion kit. They have a M&P 15/22 tower as well.
