Regarding the OAL:
Experiment to find the OAL that works best for Your barrel/firearm. For example, I use 2 OAL's when loading the Nosler 125gr BT. Some of mine like 2.2" and some like 2.1" OAL for best accuracy (with less powder for the shorter OAL, but both loads give the same velocity). I found this out by testing. Of course all the testing I do is relatively easy because I'm retired, and a neighbor lets me use his shooting range. For just function testing or chronographing or working up watching for pressure signs, I simply tell my wife I'll be shooting in the yard and say supersonic unsuppressed or supersonic suppressed or subsonic suppressed so she knows what to expect, and knows it wasn't an accidental discharge.
