If your talking . . . cutting a small section of the bottom side of the scope cap,that is directly above the forearm . . . that will not work. [ Been there,done that ] The Butler Creek scope cap will not stay on the objective of your scope after cut.
There MUST be ample space between the forearm or bbl of your weapon and the scope/scope cover. If not,during recoil,they will touch and your accuracy will degrade. [ Been there,done that.] ---- SAWMAN
