It's always funny when supposedly freedom loving Americans start yammering for "More Gubbiment!".

Ammo has been cheap for years and we are caught in a shit storm of (1) COVID19 impacting production while also increasing demand, (2) normal election cycle demand increase, and (3) potential Gubbiment legislation.

Yet people who left their pants down over the past 36 months yammer "Oh the SCALPERS", "Oh the GOUGERS".

I bought 950 rds of 9mm(brass 115 and 124gr) for $95 yesterday. Guy is retiring and moving out of state, didn't want to carry anything with him.
    *no that's not a typo*
Some here probably think you took advantage of him by not offering a 'fair market price'... and giving him another $100 or so.

LMFAO, I'm not one of those Karens, however...

I sold some ammunition, and everyone I sold it to , resold it for more than they paid me. I could care less one way or the other. But I’ll not sell one more round for less than the going price. Whiners will always whine ,when this passes they still won’t buy any ammo to stock pile. I’ve given young shooters ( children of my friends ) more than five thousand Rounds of 22 LR free of charge in the last 3 or 4 months. I’ll likely give them some more before this biden fueled shortage is over. But with that said I believe you gentleman should do as you please with your own supplies . At the current time , you are still free to do that. I’m afraid that will change sooner than most folks think.

just like buying silver, i have bought ammo all along, at market prices, it averages out.
any that thought they could always buy cheap ammo, need to re-arrange their thinking

i do not run spread sheets on costs, but ammo almost always goes up, not down, and anyone who thinks i should sell 50 rounds of .22lr for .59 cents a box, which is some of prices i bought at, is not playing with a full deck

it will be sold for what it takes me to replace it at.

NOTE to op, it was a good thing to do, if you were happy, and they were too. its only money.
it has no value except what we assign it.

Be careful who you give .22 Ammo to. I gave a lot away to a former friend so him and his son could have a few long days at the range. This is after Sandyhook. I saw him selling it at the next gun show by the 50 round box. Plenty of dirt bags out there.

i guess it was his, can do what he wants, but that is pretty sorry in my view

I can’t believe how some folks are price gouging right now, I just sold 5 boxes of Federal 300 win mag 180 grain ammo to a friend for $30 a box ($150 for all) since I no longer had the rifle. That’s what I had in it. I see people wanting twice that much now for the same ammo. I’m not that kind of a piranha or shark trying to get rich in these tough times, if I offended anybody then I’m sorry but it is getting ridiculous what some of these scalpers are doing with ammo sales, hope the vultures that are swooping in buying all the ammo up in bulk gets caught with their britches down and takes a big big loss in their supposedly investment to get rich off of us.

If your ever wanting to sell any property or house for what you "had in it" years ago I would be interested. Seems the market around here has gone to $135 a sq ft and I would like to pay more like $60 sq ft. Thank you.

While I didn't give it away, I sold some to a friend. I didn't put a price one it. I just asked him, whatcha give me for it and let him make his own price. That way I wouldn't be guilty of gouging and he couldnt come back at me and tell me I did him wrong.

I've known the guy for years and asked, are you sure? He said yep but don't want to just give it away.
    I replied, too late. Haha

How easily Resellers ignore the "impact on others" as I previously stated. They ignore it because their impact leaves buyer with little recourse other than being funneled right into the hands of the Resellers. Yeah, buyers agree to the price, what other choices do they have? Pay, do without or look elsewhere but the Resellers already stripped those shelves.

Don't kid yourselves that Resellers a providing buyers a service, they're just inserting themselves as another cost layer BETWEEN Supply and Demand!

Have you consider the fact that they could have bought all they wanted, at bargain basement prices less than a year ago ? But they didn’t, they didn’t prepare and now they want someone who did to share with them for free. Those folks will probably be much happier under a biden socialist type of government. That’s my opinion and nothing that’s been said changes my feelings on this matter.

I respect much of what you post, but not everyone who is selling is stripping the shelves and 'denying' it to others.

Last time there was a .22lr panic, I bought a mess when the price was high, because I had not learned to "wait it out". I ended up never shooting any of it, because I virtually quit shooting .22 when it got as expensive as reloading 38 special. Now, I wouldn't mind selling it, at what I paid for it, but I don't like being called a gouger.

I just got an email from Buds Gun Shop saying they have 5.7x28 American Eagle 50rd boxes for $109.00. That’s $2.20 per round. Something is bad wrong with this picture.
Target Sports USA is doing the same thing. Their 22 LR CCI standard velocity ammo was selling for $34.95 for 500 rds. Now they just jacked it up to $89.95 Wow...

As disgusted as I was paying $70 a box, I picked up several boxes of Speer 5.7x28. I saw some of the “reliable” Ammo sites charging over $120 for the same rounds. I know prices have shot up, but I know what these places are charged at wholesale. Hope karma bites them hard.

Needed to break out some bulk pack 22LR, so I grabbed a box of Federal High Velocity, 500rd bulk pack. I bought a ton of these back in oh, 2009? I think the going rate at Wally World was $10.98-11.98 per and you could buy 2 per day. I must have bought 30+ of them over a month, give or take. I still have some left in the ammo fort and it's fun shooting 2-cents per round.

    ;)

Dude, it's America. You bought it, you can sell it. For whatever you want.

Who cares what the Karens think and say..? The are just pissed that they didn't think about skipping that trip to the bar, or laying off the smokes for a bit, or using some other means to put a couple hundred bucks towards 22LR and socking away 5K of ammo over the past 2-3 years WHEN IT WAS AVAILABLE ALL THE TIME. Or some other type of ammo they are now crying for.

And the hunters missing their favorite 30-30 round because they only bought a $20 box every 3-4 years? Look up STOOO-PID in the dictionary. You could have been smart and put $200 down a couple years ago and had ammo for decades of hunting. But no, you put yourself at the mercy of fate, chance, and the believe that almighty wally world would always have your chosen ammo on the way to your hunting lease.

It just like the people who can't last 72 hrs on their own due to a hurricane and get to spend 12 hours in line for free ice, water, and food after a day. I'd rather fucking die that be in that position and I'd probably just starve for a couple days before subjecting myself to that.
