Hey John . . . do what ya want, but when Bruce and I are out hunting we usually try to kill hogs that are longer than our gun . . and weigh more too. --- SAWMAN

Last hog I got was with my bare hands.
WinDixie meat isle 2pk Boston butts.
    Both on the smoker now.
Sure would like to get back out in the woods and get one.
.308 is what I use when Im not in WinDixie.

there is a lot to be said for bare handed hog catching......it is a growing sport..practiced by even the toughest hunters.

Let me know when you see a tube-boob vid of someone diveing on a 250 pound pissed off boar hogs, with 3" cutters that have ONLY BEEN BAYED and not caught by dogs.
It would be a blood bath.
Bayed and caught are two different things. --- SAWMAN

Up Indiana way 98 lbs of deer still have spots, round Texas 98 Lb hogs still have stripes. Guess Y'all need to figure the size of the hog when determining what rifle/cartridge combo your heading out the door with???? JMHO.

Buddy of mine quit hog hunting with dogs and a knife when a big boar cut up his catch dog and got loose. His steel toed boots saved him when he got knocked down. He kept kicking him with one foot while the hog was biting his steel toed boot and shoving him across the ground. His hunting partner got there in time to kill the boar with his knife

I did nuisance alligator trapping for years and caught several alive with just a catch pole and some tape... biggest one I ever caught by myself was 11'5"... that being said. I have zero interest in messing with a pig with nothing but a knife. Guess they're more man than I am

Come on Boys, show a little Frogman Backbone. Uncle SAM sent a whole bunch of Greenmen into Southeast Asia with nothing more than an MK2/KaBar Knife. What's a couple of Hogstooths compared to all those folks in little black pajamas with AK's??????? LOL.

    Opps: History! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underwater_Demolition_Team

    what's the SIGNIFICANCE of a Hog's tooth? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hog's_tooth

My goodness, how did we get here just smelling the Bacon frying in the skillet section of a mess kit. Ain't even SPAM. LOL.

Start with a 7.62 x 51mm when Hog Hunting, you can always go bigger and Get Home latter! JMHO.

That's a pretty Old looking design SAWMAN. Did they use it when filming Creature from the Black Lagoon? or was it Lloyd Bridges in SEA HUNT?

    Looks way more practical then:

Mk13 day/night. Poped a ton of those . Red flare on one end and orange smoke on the other.
    Did you know . . ? . . pop the smoke,light it,it will burn a spewing flame.
We used to use the night end, poped and dropped out of a helo,to light the thick Fagowie grass on fire.
Randall knives are heavy use kings. I used the above one to open 55gal fuel drums. Snapped two different issue K-Bar's before I wised up. --- SAWMAN

Took me awhile to decipher how to say this, Night end had a couple of bumps on it so that you could tell by touch which end to pull in complete darkness.

Smart man!!!! I had a buddy come by a few years back and wanted to go hog hunting I knew he ran dogs but I didn't know how he did it. I said let me get my rifle. He quickly said "I don't use guns.....I cut their throats when the dogs get them down. I said "not no-but Hell no". I think this is good proof that I'm smart too!
