Please explain how I get the same amount of taxes back as I did last year and I made 10K more? I know I am in a different tax bracket but man lets tax the citizens that actually try to make something of them selves. I have never understood why the government taxes the citizens that make more. I wish I knew how to make it right around a 0 so I can put away all that taxed money in to a certificate or IRA but I don't want to end up paying back. I hate the IRS. Sorry my rant for the day.

I don't like it either. The Founders fought a war over what, 3% taxes? They'd be rolling in their graves right now. Before they raise any taxes, they need to cut waste.

A whole renovation needs to be done. There needs to be a flat standard tax across the board. I hate seeing how citizens try to make a successful life and when what get taxed more vs someone that makes 15K year or is on welfare. It freaking boggles my mind how corrupted over government is. We honestly are holding onto our rights by a thread, being rapped by the IRS, politicians.... I don't even know where to start there. Get rid of them all.

We need a flat tax for sure but it will never happen. Too many people make money off the tax structure the way it is.

Actually, my first job out of college was with the IRS. Supposed to be in Charlotte, N.C.
I went up to Greensboro, N.C. for employee processing and orientation. Then I was supposed to go to Atlanta for 3 or 4 months for training.
After the 2 day orientation, I decided that I did not want to work with that bunch. I took my stack of books, set them on the secretary's desk and told her I was going back to Florida.
She got a wild-eyed look and said "You need to talk to Mr. Ball". He was the GS16 in charge. I was ushered into his office.
He said "Now son, you quit now and you'll most likely never get another job with the federal government."
I said "Sir, after seeing this, I don't think I want one." I turned and left.

Most of my life I have been single and couldn't take my kids off my taxes even while paying child support untill they got out of college.

Pissed me off when people were getting tax returns and sometimes even getting back more than they paid in.

And that's why more and more businesses are moving their base locations to Canada and the Netherlands. Less taxes there and they get to operate in the US all the same.

And speaking of illegal tax returns. I heard a story that illegals were getting returns and claiming children that didn't even live in the US. Some claiming over 20 kids and the IRS not even catching it.

I don't get why we support non producers. I've had a job since I was 13 cutting grass for my grandfathers friends that didn't have anyone to do it for them. He'd drive me around and I'd cut their grass for $20. I also put myself through college and got a bachelors degree with no gov assistance because I lived with my parents. My parents couldn't afford to put me through college and the gov said they made too much to give me any assistance. I worked full time and went to class. That all while people in my class are talking about getting assistance for living, food, expenses and classes. None had jobs and their parents gave them money. So they'd get their assistance and pay for class and have $3-5,000 left over to spend unsupervised on whatever they want. I wish employers had that information when highering new employees. I'd rather higher someone who worked and produced through college instead of having it paid for and having no real experiences or responsibilities. I know this is off topic but it all loops back to the gov supporting non producers and kicking producers and people making something of their life right between the legs.

If it really boils your blood then I suggest becoming a rabid supporter of the HR22 & S1022 the FairTax bills. Start by reading "The FairTax" book by Neal Boortz and Congressman John Linder. It explains how the income tax came about and how congress wrote themselves out of it.

With the FairTax, you have no federal withholdings, no income tax, no corporate tax, no federal tax of any kind except a 23% sales tax on NEW items. You will also pay no federal tax on the first $20K of your yearly spending.

Look closely into it and if you approve start contacting your representatives often and INSIST on passing the FairTax bill because the politicians won't do it, it strips them of the power to control the citizenry through the tax codes.

I did some reading up on that a while back and liked what I read. Good luck ever getting a majority of politicians to vote for something that reduces their power and influence though. They will keep the same 2-party BS going with the help of MSM including Fox. Same old issues that people will get emotional over and take sides while the bought and paid for good ole boys on both sides of the aisle and their masters continue to laugh at the public's gullibility and continue to fleece the country.

How I would love to see term limits for Congress but then again it's the very one's who benefit from not having them that would have to vote for them. If there is no long-term financial gain to be had from serving in congress then just maybe some good legislation limiting the powers of government could get passed. The founders never intended to have a professional political class. It is the root of so many evils including oppressive taxation in my opinion. It will take a massive awakening of the American public to ever change this. I don't have much faith this will ever happen. Till then we just have to pay our high taxes and bitch. Which I expect will be till my number is punched.

Well now that I got a good Saturday morning rant out of the way I can try to go enjoy the day!

That's the catch Fletch, the people will have to pressure the hell out of their politicians to get any tax code reform. As it stands the code is ripe for abuse by politicians and bureaucrats to control the population as they see fit. Don't want you driving a big car, tax the hell out of it.

The FairTax isn't perfect but it's way, way better than the complex system the almighty government has put in place today.

Gotta love America! And to think we went to war against a tyrannical government over a tax on a beverage.(yes I know there were other reasons too). Now we can't even protest these days because of the threat of arrest or being audited by the IRS. God Bless America, cause we need it more now than we have ever in the past.

Do any of you guys have an accountant or do you file on your own?
I have an accountant that I've been using for the last 3 years and its worth every penny. I file 1099 and trying to do all my writeoffs and all that got way too out of hand. Its great to just count up all my expenses and email them over to him and get them filled out and prepared all into a nice neat portfolio that is easy to navigate.
    No headaches.

My wife was an accountant and an IRS enrolled agent for a couple of decades. She would look over tax returns done by H&R Block and other preparers. She consistently found more money for everyone. It's almost criminal what those chain tax places turn out.
