Hey Guys, I just saw that you now have a dedicated IDPA thread so I will be checking this site more often. We all know ERGC's site is on life support with the number of posts there, but that is where you'll find updated info on coming matches. Here's a copy of the latest post over there regarding upcoming matches.

    "Hey folks,
Still waiting to hear from the Safety Officer Instructor to schedule our class to get new folks certified Safety Officers to give some of our regular SO's a break. Since the class has yet to be scheduled, you can still email me to sign up. Initially the registration was closed thinking we would have had the class by now, but there is still room if you're interested. All future matches listed below are tentative with respect to scheduling the Safety officer class. Stay tuned here for further updates.

Upcoming matches in June will be regular pistol matches using both ranges to keep things moving along. We'll have a shotgun side match on the Sunday portion using about 20 shots, five being slugs, fifteen shots using no larger in size than #6. We may also have pistol transitions to keep you ready. For the Saturday match, it will be rifle side match using about 30 rounds with a mandated mag change somewhere; possible pistol transitions.

The first match in July (a Sunday) will also be a pistol match with a Back up Gun (BUG) gun side match. The second match in July (a Saturday) will be a Classifier.

The first match in August (a Sunday) will be a Classifier with the second August match (a Saturday) a regular pistol match -side match yet to be determined."

Glad to see there is great interest on this board for IDPA. If you don't see info posted that answers your questions, you can email me at jmrobinette@reagan.com and also with suggestions. Let me know your GCGF handle at the next match, so I'll know who you are. - Mike

    Updated original post.

For the shotgun match, will the federal bulk pack 2 3/4" bird shot be sufficient? What do you guys use to carry additional shotgun shells, I can't imagine a pocket full of shotgun shells being fast...

Ian, you can use my shell carriers. Holds 4 shells horizontally. I got 2 of 'em.

Man I'm not going to be able to make it that weekend either, it being fathers day weekend and all. I will definitely be there on the 28th.

Bird shot is okay to use and it's cheap, but # 6 makes the steel fall a little faster with not too much more recoil, but # 7's fine. Don't forget to bring at least 5 slugs for the hostage taking bad guys or good center hits to avoid the Non-threats. If you have the time to pattern your shotgun it also helps to know your area of hits in case you were to run out of slugs. If you want to practice with your shotgun but not take a beating to the shoulder, check out the PAST pad that fits on your shoulder. It has a sorbothane pad that really helps absorb recoil and prevent bruising. If you have ever taken a shotgun class and fired a lot of rounds, you'll know what I mean. KnowhutImsayin' ?

Looks like I should be able to make it. I need to do lots more research, but it should be fun.

Well, I can't promise to be graceful, but I'm sure it'll be fun.
It's got me looking for a doublestack 9. Single action 226 is looking good. Less reloads to fumble up. ;)

Every stage is different. Some have bullet limits, others have no limit. Have at least three mags and a mag holder. No matter the stage the round count per mag is ten. Well, the initial mag can have eleven.
