The Saudis lease the land at $25 an acre, annually. They own thousands of acres stretching into California. And then they pump out all the water underneath it.

If an American citizen wants to lease one acre of land? Different story for us.

Considering Arizona acreage is high desert and sells to US citizens for only $100 an acre, a lease for $25 an acre is a pretty good deal for the land owner. I'd say somebody's ripping off the Saudis by leasing junk land for $25 an acre

Perhaps more people shouldn’t live in the desert than the land can support without artificial means.

Selling farmland and agricultural companies to foreigners is just plain stupid but that’s what we do.
