I like that you two take simplicity to a new level. That's cool. I'm hunting with a Benelli Nova...not exactly old school cool!
Yeah, old school. In the age of 3.5 inch $5 magic cannon shells and super choked 1k semi autos the old 2 3/4 dinosaur singles still work. * with a good quality shell* Ymmv.

I've noticed another bearded hen on the property this year (on the far right). They seem to show up frequently. Have any of you spotted any in person or on the field cameras? Just curious how common they are.
I saw one of those tranny turkeys in Blackwater a few years ago. I have seen a few (like 2-3 a year out of a few hundred birds) over in East Florida kinda between Gainesville & Jax. I don’t hunt turkeys around Santa Rosa county where I deer hunt. One property the owner asked not to shoot them and I don’t feel like there are enough around the other spots I hunt.

Yep. Saw you had a choke on the end was wondering. Nothing wrong with a single shot, works fine. I'm using my grandpa's savage 94c, 2 3/4, full choke, ghost gun, no serial. Using #6 hi bird. Over time this thing probably took 10 freezers of game. It's the only gun I ever saw him use. Deer, coons, turkeys, doves, ducks, rabbits, squirrels and pests. I wish that he could have taught me his magic with the shotgun. At some point he painted it green, with a brush, lol. I added the decal on the stock. True shooter, tight pattern. It is and always will be my turkey gun. View attachment 281585
My first shotgun was a Stevens 12 gauge single shot. I also inherited a Stevens 12 gauge single shot from Dad with a tenite stock. It really kicks. But both 2 3/4” and single shots so the shoulder doesn’t take much recoil except once in high school I shot skeet with mine. Ouch
