The walker trigger is easy to set if you are handy with guns....but shouldn't be undertaken lightly....because it could become dangerous if you don't perform a safety check after setting it. Google will get you the proper instructions.
I have a 1986 700 bdl 7mm mag .....set the trigger to 3lbs ....and modified the safety so that it can be engaged at any time. The old ones could only be engaged with the bolt closed.
A lot of misfires occur when someone has their finger resting on the trigger, and they actuate the safety. This is one of the safety checks to perform after setting the trigger.
You can check the guns safety by opening and then closing the bolt...(GUN UNLOADED OF COURSE!! )...applying gentle pressure to the trigger and sliding the safety on and off.....it should NOT release the striker.
Next you should check that the striker does not fire when you slam the bolt closed.... Safety on or off.
Next, open and close the bolt.... Turn the safety off, and bring the butt of the gun down firmly on a hard surface ....not hard enough to break anything...but hard enough to simulate a drop.....the striker should NOT fire.
You should check out the Complete process, even if you never intend to adjust the trigger...the testing procedure alone will give you a little more peace of mind... And help you understand your rifle a little better!
