I recently got a good deal on an Eotech 512 from a forum member (Thanks Fanner50!) and I just mounted it to my gun tonight. It is a flat top upper with no carry handle. I have a YHM rear BUIS on it that I would like to use as well in case the optic fails, but the problem is I cant see the front sight post through my rear peep sight.. Its like the BUIS is sitting too low.. Can anyone suggest the quick detach mount I would need to make it an absolute co witness?

I was thinking about getting one of these http://www.lapolicegear.com/ggg-1190-eot-lever.html but I was wondering if I would need something to raise my rear sight up a bit to get that co witness?

The sight came with a factory mount built in to the bottom of the sight.. Does this thing come off??

    Clear as mud?? haha

On flat tops I hard mount the optics and use Off-Sets to place the MBUS irons 45 degrees inboard. Just cant the pistol grip and your there. When you have a std scope mtd it makes close work fast and easy. This configuration does not work for everyone. If you try this mount, I highly recommend you shoot with it at least once. I did not like it when first mtd but it shot well and transition was quick.

Don't you just remove the large screw on the left and pull it out then slide the base out?

Yeah, that looks like the 1/2" YHM riser, pull out the screw and slide it out, should work as a crossbar on the picatinny riser. Slide it out, slide it on to your upper. Cowitness away!
