Hello everyone. New to the forum and new to gun ownership. I bought myself a few new Christmas presents! A POF P415 and a Springfield XDM 45ACP Compact.

I do have questions:
On the AR, what BUIS should I use? I know there are opinions for and against BUIS if you have other optics, but if my optics fail, I'd at least want irons. I like the Troy set, but would I need the standard height to co-witness my red dot? If I preferred 1/3 co-witness with a red-dot, would I need a riser for the red-dot or other optics? Do most like absolute co-witness or 1/3? I plan on having a few optics to swap out, and would also like suggestions on a good scope as well ($300-600.) I am not sure what ranges are close by and how long those ranges are. I'd really like to try some 2-300 yard targets.
I'd also like to get a nice .22LR rifle with a syn stock. Suggestions? I read that the Ruger 10/22 is tried and true, but what about the M&P15-22 or the Baikal MP161K? Tacticool is not as important to me as accuracy and a magazine (no single shot)
I did order 1600 rounds of 55-grain, FMJ .223 Remington UMC from Cabela's. It seemed like a good deal at $280/800 rounds for target practice, once I find a good place to go.
Comments, suggestions and criticisms are welcome, especially suggestions on local stores with the best deals and best customer service!
Thanks!
