I'm old school all my friends think I'm nuts but that's all I hunt with is iron sights unless I'm sitting in a shooting house which is very rarely lol I hunt with my marlin 30-30 lever action - Browning 270 automatic and my Remington 30-06 pump in Florida there ain't enough long range shots unless your hunting private land with shooting lanes to use a scope I can throw anyone of my guns up and bead a deer pretty fast without the headache of trying to find him in a scope.
I know a lot of people will think differently on this but hey this is my two cent. Lol
I have an old marlin 30-30 that I use with iron sights, I hunt mostly in a boat an, just saying scopes are not boat friendly, short distance shots, Denny in pace
Iron sight are ok if that's what you are used to!!!!I have an old marlin 30-30 that I call my boat gun because I hunt places you have to get to by boat, boats are not scope friendly most of the time especially if you are hunting with dogs!!!!That being said if I do carry a scoped gun I keep it in a hardcase if I am going to one of my treestands. Denny in pace!!!
Trust me on this, for quicker acquisition and better targeting there are an abundance of red dots and halo sights, maxi to mini size that will serve you better than iron sights. They direct your eye where it should be and you are faster on the shot.
I have hunted most of my life with iron sites. 44mag pistols, 50 cal flintlock pistol, flintlock rifles, etc. I also have scoped weapons but I enjoy flintlocks more than anything. Yes I have shot a lot of deer with them over the years. Eyes are getting old and harder to see. Just have to shorten the distance.
