I have old Browning auto 5 that I am trying to repair. It did not have a firing pin in it as it was broken & removed by a gun smith but i did not have him repair it. (some years ago)

I ordered a firing pin and it arrived but there is not a spring to keep the pin moving back & forth which could strike the primer when the bolt is closed. I noticed on some U tube videos that the Remington made Auto 5s have a spring. The Browning parts department did not see one in the parts book nor did I.

So does anyone know if the Browning made Auto 5s have a firing pin spring?

    Thanks Joe

Joe I just checked Brownells and Numrich arms and Neither show a firing pin spring so it may NOT have one

Thanks for checking Ken I was thinking the same thing but thought it best to ask around. Just seems weird not to have one especially when the Remington made ones do.

O well I not an engineer I will have to trust John Browning.

You guys are correct. The firing pin is cammed back by the bolt lock. Eliminating fear of dropping on the barrel and having an inertia strike on live round.
