So I'm looking to build a rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor.
And I know nothing about the caliber.
    Who makes a good barrel?
    Length?
    Twist?
    Gas system?
    Buffer system?
Does it use a .308 bolt?
I'd rather build, as I have a receiver set.
But I'm open to purchasing a complete upper if it's a better option.

And later I'd like scope recommendations.

-Bartlein or Kreiger make excellent barrels.
-I wouldn’t go shorter than 22”. Or 26” for speed. You will gain 12-16fps per inch of barrel
-1-8” twist for 130-144 grain bullets.
    -rifle or longer gas
-rifle length butt kit or JP silent capture have worked for me
    -yes standard .480” case head.

I'll throw my $0.02 in. the Bbl length , GB O.D. even having the muzzle threaded ALL depend on what you want to do with your rifle.
And to scopes, again , depends on what you want to use your rifle for, your age ie; eye site.
My 308 AR with a 26" Bbl.and with a 10x40x56 scope hit the scales at 23 (+-) Lbs. The groups were shot at 300 yds.

Well I decided to buy instead of build.
    I got a PWS Mk218.
It has an 18" barrel and is a long stroke piston system.
If I really like the round, I'll look into the longer barrels recommended.
Baddog, so you mentioned gas block diameter. I'm guessing it effects harmonics and flex/barrel whip?
    What did you go with?

So now I'm shopping for an scope for this rifle in 6.5.

Anything I should be aware of?
    Any recommendations?

    Great question.
I guess I'm thinking this might fit the role of 300-600 yard+.
Wondering how it compares to a 20" .308?
I'd like to think further ranges in the future, but I haven't the opportunity to shoot longer ranges. Hell, with my eyes fading I probably won't ever shoot over 600, even for target practice.

So your build sounds about like my build. Im building one off an Aero upper and lower. Lots of other stuff, I may do a different thread so as not to hijack yours.

    I went with a Leupold Rifleman 4-12x40
Ideally, I'll put an offset with a DPP on it whenever I see a good deal. (I missed a few on here already, but I'll get one soon)

My goal was a DMR type build for 700 on in.

    Not that I'm a scope snob, I've found a few good deals on Vortex scopes from;
But they have any flavor you like! I used a 4-24 Strike Eagle on my 6.5 build.

I don't offer my advice to people that can not even put their physical location in their on screen profile
If you are referring to me, 850 is my area code . . .
Also not everyone likes to give out personal information online.

A p.m. would have been cool.

    Start a new thread please!
This one is kind of stale anyway.
Excuse my ignorance, what is DPP?
