It is just the right size for a six pack and a little ice.
Looks like it's stackable. The "carry strap" may just be like those ammo packets have: to make it easier to remove from a larger box of a bunch of those containers.
Might've been used to transport medical stuff (blood, fluids, medicine), and got repurposed by soldiers and civilians for food containers.
I'm curious how well it still insulates.
If that was the case it is mighty small for that, you couldn't put much in it. It is just the right size for a six pack and a little ice.
If you don't mind me asking where did you get it? I'm betting it's fairly old and not a lot of them were made, I'm 48 and never seen anything like it.
