      rust on a blued barrel

      anyone know how to remove rust from a blued surface?i have been thinking about using the steel wool but im not to sure about it.before i read afew post on the internet i got some oil(3 in 1) and a rag and wiped it down,tons of rust came off though.if any one has has any info on this subject...
