Looks like the peach crop might be poor this year. Pecans iffy, just have to spray and see. Blue berries look good. The spaghetti crop looks to be a bumper crop though, cool wet spring really helped the production. Hows others crops looking?

I gave you a like but I’m really sorry for the marshmallow crop loss. Farming is a gamble with the weather.

We have not tended to our pecan orchard in a few years now. With the surge in price of chemicals, diesel combined with the low price we’d get, we’d be at a loss even with a bumper crop. Many other small orchard owners in the area (southeast GA) also letting theirs go. Our roughly 100 trees seem to be doing well naturally, though not producing much, and we should be able to restore the orchard to commercial viability in the future should market conditions improve. Massive orchard owners (hundreds of acres) seem to still be able to squeeze a profit, though nothing like 10 years ago when the Chinese pecan craze was in full swing. On the bright side, we did just get our pine straw contract renewed at 10K over the previous 3 years!

Suprised to hear yall say pecan prices are down. Seems like the price of pecans has gone way up over the last few years. I like to eat them so I've noticed the hike in price. Maybe fuel and chemicals have gone up at a higher % than the price of pecans have. I heard there is a pecan farm going in off the south Evergreen AL exit. Someone bought a big piece next to the airport there and from what I understand they were putting a pecan orchard in.

We have a fruit tree orchard at our camp. Mostly pears and crab apples for the animals. I will say we've had a poor crop the last 2 years. Crab apples barely made last year and none of our pear trees produced like years past. We plant a plot in between the rows so it gets fertilizer and weed control pretty regular.

We would have got 1.25 a pound this year if we produced, less 30 cents a pound for the migrant workers to harvest. 8-10 years ago we were above $2 with chemicals 1/4 the cost they are now.

That's terrible. Last time I was in Preisters they were selling for $12.00 a pound if I remember. It was enough that I passed on buying a bag.

I just started building a mini orchard in my yard this year. I've planted 3 blueberries, 3 blackberries, 3 mulberries, 1 crab apple, 1 apple, 2 plum, 1 olive and 1 fig. I'm trying to find a couple fuyu persimmon since my wife loves them!

I’ve always heard that if you talk to them, they grow better!
