Why are the old GI 20rd mags straight and all the new ones slightly curved??? Never had an issue with the old ones and seem to be a better design, mono pod, less snaggy while slung.

I'm not sure on the validity of this so grain of salt and all that, but I've heard it's so they can use the same followers and tooling as the 30s. I've never really messed with 20rd mags but I wouldn't mind having some of the Magpul straight 20s. They're getting to be a collector's item at this point.

I'd like some too!! Have gen 1 and tan to trade. The green followers go right in the 20s and work so it's probably a tooling issue.

I have a few of each. Straight 20 round Magpuls and USGI type. I never saw a curved 20 for the AR15 style rifle. Can you post a photo of one. I may need to get one or 2 for myself.
Edit. I stand corrected. After looking in my 20 round can, i pulled out these 2, then i found this one. The curve wasnt enough for me to really notice.

Very cool. You notice the curve when slung and you bang into something. Jabs ya. If ya want to do some trading I'd be in for 2 of those Magpul straight 20's.
