    Hey y'all,
I have a Savage 116 Stainless 30/06 I was planning on using for my AK black bear hunt next spring.
Iv been reading about the 35 Whelen and it looks like a fantastic option considering we may run into some grizzlies also...
Well have one 30/06, one AR10 in 308, one 300 WinMag, and either my 30/06 or 35 Whelen if I do a barrel swap, in our group of 5.

Does anyone have any experience doing a Savage 110 or 116 Rebarrel to 35 Whelen?

I found a good deal with good reviews on a stainless 35 Whelen barrel listed below.
    Any thoughts are appreciated.

35 Whelen is a good choice.
Savage actions are straightforward to rebarrel.
Nothing but the bbl needs to be changed for this build.
Pay close attention to the head space when setting up the bbl, the bolt should not close on the no-go gage.

Next spring , so you some have time.
    1. Do a search for Savage Pre-fit barrel makers and see if they offer a 35 Whelen chambering and what is their delivery time.
    2. You should determine if your receiver takes a small / normal or large Bbl. shank. Measure the Bbl nut's OD. small is 1.055 & Lg is 1.120
    3. If you want to do the Bbl. swaps you will need several items. Do you have a standard vice ? or about 6" on your reloading table ?

Why don't you just get some 180 are some in the 200 are more weight for the 30-06. If you can't stop him with that you are in trouble learn where to shoot and practice that will help more then any thing. Don't get me wrong I like the 35 but it;s not worth the cost. Just my 50 cents
Yeah I'm looking into some Barnes 180grns (2750fps) and buffalo bore supercharged 168grns at 2900 fps. The BB's use the Barnes bullet too.
    Those look really good.
