Buying a rifle from an individual and he wants to personally send to an ffl. Any body here do that? The 2 shops I normally use won’t do it.

If he's in another state .. has to go FFL to FFL.
Is that some FL thing? Because there is no federal law that prohibits a FFL from receiving from an individual. When I was in Alabama, most of my purchases and transfers were from out of state individuals that shipped direct to my FFL. That said, lots of FFLs refuse to receive from individuals, but that’s a personal decision, not law.

Everyone I've ever talked with said has to go FFL to FFL, they will not receive from a private party.
Cuts down on nefariousness I suppose.

    Yup.
IME, it is the FFL prerogative to not accept from individuals. And given how picky ATF has become, I understand their point.

Sounds like he wants to "cheap charlie" and not pay the $$ for an ffl in his area to send it to your ffl.
If he is local tell him you will furnish a bill of sale and that should be all he needs.

He is 1,000 miles away. I’ll offer to pay his transfer but he’s claiming a “logistical nightmare”. I want the rifle but not a huge issue if I don’t get it.

Years ago it used to be more common for FFLs to accept from an individual - they usually required the person send the bill of sale and copy of their D/L.

Seems to be far less common these days. It's still 100% legal, but most don't accept it anymore.

Nope it's legal to send individual to FFL, if receiving FFL will accept.
Carson's Pawn shop will accept it.
He must have a note saying he owns it and it is sold to you. Must have a copy of his driver's license.
    35 dollars out the door.

Sometimes 50, 75, 100 bucks can be a deal breaker when paying fees on both ends. It's not illegal to be thrifty.
