Yes, at butcherpen they are in the lee, on 50,000 lb anchors. If they would have used this option during sally like storm warnings before, everything would have been fine
Does the anchor weigh 50 K lbs or is that some sort of rating for the anchor.

Prob a 22 ton hook. The weight of the chain is what really holds a ship. Pay out 7x the depth. 1-2 shots usually does it. 3 to be sure. The bottom where the flukes dig in makes a huge difference.
Holy shit! You got half the top of a mountain worth of iron ore in one chain and anchor!

The water there is shallow and I do not know how much wire/chain they can put out. We will not be a hurricane Ivan like storm. My guess if the bay and sound got hit by zeta, it would be tropical force winds.
Zeta almost sounds like drug cartels.

So done with this storm crap. :-/ Seems every time I get ready to do something.... happens again!

Tell me, we are running cables for the new security cams at the house. Saturday it rained almost all damn day. Got 4 ran today, got 4 to run tomorrow. Got to start putting up new fencing finally.

It seems everytime we start something it rains.......Or everytime we finish a repair or something another 2 issues pop up. We are at a point where it seems we are going to have to replace all the duct work for the HVAC. That will require major drywall work in three areas where repairs are 100% completed. Plus cutting into the ceiling in 3 other areas. Also the stack vent is leaking in various areas.

I'm sick of storms, sick of rain, give me a 2 year break without them so I can finish repairs and make the decision to stay or sell and move North of I-10.

It really depends on a lot of factors as to making a decision for staying put or moving. A late friend of mine lived in Abbeville, LA. About either 2004 or 5 one of the storms had vermillion bay water over his property and almost over his floor. The flooding situation was getting worse due to changes in part to the coastal marshes. Anyway he made the decision to move 10 miles further inland and if he was still alive it would seem he made the right decision with the storms that region just got hit with.
When I built, I went inland and high. i am a little bit of a survivalist in thinking and I know from history that hurricanes have always been an issue here on the emerald coast. Remember the first spanish settlement in Pensacola that was on the beach was wiped out by a hurricane.
It sucks to be in that position. Me I just had to fixed some fencing, some downed trees and a piece of sheet metal on a shed I forgot to screw down.

Hey Sarge, tell me 'bout it. We are still fixing damage in Panama City at my wife's family home from two years ago. We are down to drywall and ceiling. All the good contractors are busy and way over priced. The insurance estimate did not plan for the price of everything to go up. Now we are repairing Sally's damage in Pensacola. Getting spread too thin. Too old for this much excitement.

The models show a lot of agreement. I have not seen prediction of it strength upon immediate landfall. I see hope that it will hit as a tropical storm since the water right by the coast is cooler.

Once again I’m glad my ancestors wanted land that they could farm and settled inland
Baker hasn’t had much rain so far
Weather underground says windows 18 mph with gusts to 35 mph
I hope and pray that no one is hurt by this thing and that the water recedes with out a lot of damage
