I agree with OP. After reading his multiple post/comments and getting an understanding of his comprehension of the Laws and subordanant legal issues, along with his skewed perspectives: He (junker46), has no business carrying a concealed weapon. IMHO

Please quote what I said that lead you to that.

I'm stepping delicately through this issue. However, what about the next time I see someone snatching their/a child around in Walmart? The next door neighbor abusing his dog again? Two people involved in an altercation, with one clearly on the downside? What now? Do I next some previous event to give me context if necessary to intervene?

Since I'm going down the path. This statement further shows your ignorance of the issue if you're trying to compare someone trying to enforce a parking issue when they aren't the property owner or law enforcement versus someone committing child abuse, animal abuse or a forcible felony. A non-moving parking violation versus what are three felony examples.
You are simply clueless and by all indications a danger to those around you if you are carrying a gun. Since you like my cut and pastes here are some more.

A CCW shouldn’t be confused with a Leo badge , unfortunately many folks do just that.

What if's all day long... In this situation it is easy. Deceased fella committed a simple battery (misdemeanor) which did not justify being shot. Subject that shot --- if he would have pulled the trigger before deceased fella turned around to retreat, he wouldn't have been convicted.

Carrying a firearm is a big responsibility and like JohnB said, too many folks carry and think they are a bad ass waiting and sometimes provoking so they can pull their firearm. Cameras are everywhere so if you act stupid, more then likely its on video to seal your fate or if you act in good faith it'll save your rear...

Well, now that the trash is taken out.

I absolutely agree with those who said the guy stuck his nose where it didn't belong and learned a hard lesson.

Also, my apologies to the forum for interacting with that guy. There is a difference between asking what did the guy do wrong I don't understand and simply stating opinion not founded in reality and then arguing your fantasy is true. Let's get back to our regularly scheduled programming. LOL

I really hate to bump this thread, but it's the most appropriate spot.

Here's a too common scenario for me: CWL as usual. Go to the grocery store, hear a dog barking/whining. Look around, and find the poor dog that some ASSHOLE left in the car in the Florida heat while they went shopping. Get out the phone; call Sheriff's office non-emergency line. Same discussion "we can send a deputy by there. If the dog looks in distress, you can break the glass, but if able wait for the deputy." (Sidenote: barking is distress, silently sitting there could ALSO be distress in the form of disorientation while their brain literally cooks). So I wait. Murphy's Law in effect: owner always comes out before a deputy can arrive. Asks what I'm doing. I explain I'm seeing if their dog is in distress. Do they know that the internal temperature of the car can rise quite quickly, even with the windows down, and dogs have no way to heat-exchange except for panting? Breathing in hotter and hotter air makes that almost useless. Brain damage from being cooked alive is a horrible and slow way to die? Then the 100%-of-the-time reaction of anger at ME for watching out for THEIR animal. So, I see they are upset. I put my hand up, palm towards them, shake my head and say "have a nice day". Walk away.

That's usually how it goes. Based on the opinions expressed here, am I supposed to just never speak up anymore? Or is the consensus to only do it if I'm not armed? I somehow forfeit any right to justifiable self-defense because I started the conversation about the dog?

If we resign ourselves to "not my circus", and "mind your own business", is that simply because we are carrying?

    Honest question.

I find it sad to see society go to a place where we can no longer be involved due to fears of irrational responses from the other person.

I mean that's basically it. What it's comming to. If the guy with the dog tried to slit your throat and you shot him they will find a way to blame you for it because you initiated it.

Its not that people don't want others to be good responsible caring citizens. It is cautionary that just about any encounter can go sideways and with that comes potential Litigation liabilities. You can go through dozens of hypotheticals on the dog in hot car scenario. Accepting or avoiding is an individual choice.

I'm pretty much fed up with the over the top BS in this thread. If someone thinks shooting a guy while trying to enforce parking and trying to help a person or animal in distress by calling law enforcement are equal then they should join Junker in not carrying a gun and quite possibly not interacting with people.
No one has said don't get involved they said mind your own business when it's not life or limb involved. A concealed carry permit doesn't make you a parking enforcement officer, a code enforcement officer or any other kind of law enforcement entity.
People are assholes of course they are going to get mad at you for calling them out for being a shitty person.

Once again someone who doesn't understand the difference between a crime and a parking violation.

So let's say you find a dog in a car at walmart. It's summertime and you're concerned, so you call the non emergency number and wait for LEO by the car...
At this point your obligation to do the right thing is over.
The owner comes out and is confrontational? Leave. Back down. I know it may hurt your pride, and a lot of us are passionate about dogs, but I'm not about to shoot someone over the way they treat THEIR dog...

    Just my opinion.
