Yeah this is why I rarely sell stuff anymore. And it's why I'm always on the prowl for "deals" and am ready to snatch them up when they present themselves. And my $120 SKS paratrooper carbine is safe wayyyyy in the back of the safe lolI asked an older guy on the forum and I won’t mention his name has what’s best described as an arsenal of weapons, ammunition, powder and other reloading components how do you know what will be collectible or what do you need to hoard?
His answer was everything prices will never go back.
Over a period of time that’s correct. The days of the $100 sks and $80 mosins has long since passed. Had to buy them at the correct moment in time.
Knowing what To buy is critical. Resources are limited. A local gun shop has a savage rascal on sale for $100. Online is a $30 rebate. Never will we see a $70 22 rifle again. I’ve put one up for my kid. Only having one kid but at that price tempted to put up a second one.
Wishing now I’d bought another sks back in the day. That ship sailed. Keep looking forward.
What are todays deals that you’ll kick yourself over in the future? Ruger wranglers and heritage arms 22’s??
Yep it all goes up. Re: wrangler, Heritage the only difference I can see is the ceracoate wranglers are finished better. Other than that they seem to be the same. +1 ruger for finish, +1 Heritage for cylinder swap 22, 22 mag.I asked an older guy on the forum and I won’t mention his name has what’s best described as an arsenal of weapons, ammunition, powder and other reloading components how do you know what will be collectible or what do you need to hoard?

Today's high prices are tomorrow's deals for the most part. But not everything will be a collector grade guns.I asked an older guy on the forum and I won’t mention his name has what’s best described as an arsenal of weapons, ammunition, powder and other reloading components how do you know what will be collectible or what do you need to hoard?

I paid under $200 for my primo-conditioned Israeli 7.62 NATO Mauser. Have you seen what they go for these days?I was in college and broke when the Mausers flooded the market. I recall getting the Sportmans Guide with 1890’s Mausers where you could order direct wishing I had a $100 to buy one.
Yep. Those days gone.I paid under $200 for my primo-conditioned Israeli 7.62 NATO Mauser. Have you seen what they go for these days?
Put that Tula up now.I'm guessing this is not a good time for me to offer my sks for sale here...
They tend to work 100% of time. If they are not accurate, like a garand they can be accurized. The major defect is that mounting scopes can be challenge. They are at good price for $300. But only for collecting purposes should anyone spend a $1000 or so on them.I m being sincere when I say this. I see absolutely nothing appealing about the SKS. I guess taking in inflation, I would do like $300 max for one. Triggers suck, 3 MOA rifles, can’t mount scopes, no detachable mags, stocks are short bc commies are short, sights suck and cover up a man size target at 300 yards.
They were cool in 2003 when they $69 in a crate and mosins were $59. But once they went north of $200 I completely lost interest. No idea where people are coming up with prices or who’s crazy enough to buy them at those prices.
People used to say the same thing about GI 1911s being collectable. Same with Masuers and Enfields and M1 Carbines. Now look at 'em.The avg price of an sks these days is absolutely ridiculous and I can’t help but chuckle anytime I hear sks and collectible in the same sentence.
I like mine because they're rifles of a bygone era, made by nations that never intended the common people to own them, let alone Americans. They tend to work 100% of time. If they are not accurate, like a garand they can be accurized. The major defect is that mounting scopes can be challenge. They are $300 any day of the year. But only for collecting purposes should anyone spend a $1000 or so on them.
3-4 moa is enough to kill deer or people out to 200 yards.
If fitted with the standard 10 round fixed box magazine they may get around future assault weapons bans. That is the only reason that I keep mine around. If that threat goes away, then I may be selling mine.
not unless you ask $100 and throw some ammo inI'm guessing this is not a good time for me to offer my sks for sale here...
Right. I'm sure you can buy them by the crate full for that pricenot unless you ask $100 and throw some ammo in
Turn 'em into a coffee table.Right. I'm sure you can buy them by the crate full for that price
Doubt if you could buy the crate they came in for $100,Turn 'em into a coffee table.
