    Never had the . . ummmm . . "privilege" of using,or even remembering seeing them.
    The 855's and similar were preferred if you were not using a 12 twist gun. If so the 193's were standard issue. Actually . . we were never really concerned about ammo. (If your bullet would go thru bamboo,that was good enough.) Even in the Stoners. Belted in 200 or 250 rd belts there were 8-12 M193 then one tracer.
    The M60 door gunners belts were usually 16:1 tracer.
    I'm really glad that there are so many members with more knowledge than me. It is great to still(at my advanced age)have the mental capacity to LEARN THINGS. --- SAWMAN
    ADDED: Wondering in what year this black tip ammo was distributed to the ACTUAL front line troops ???
