Well, the time has come to upgrade to a bigger safe.

What do you all recommend? I am think that I will look to upgrade to something that will grow with me.

Liberty safes are currently #1 but open to hear opinions.

I like Liberty safes so I’d recommend them, I haven’t researched lately but when I did they were the best available locally. You can only purchase what you have a dealer for, unless you order one online. I don’t even know if you can but I also wanted to look at mine first.
I watched videos on YouTube of people busting open safes and that made my decision easy. They hid the brand but it looked like the safes that are sold at academy and TSC. It was eye opening how easy they got into some of them.

that would be Cannon, Winchester, and Liberty.

Liberty has an imported line (TSC) as well as Made In USA lines.
    Things that make them better"
Sheet Steel doors not rolled doors
exposed hinges allow the door to swing 180* concealed hinges only allow the to to open to about 110*

I think there is a big safe dealer in the panhandle somewhere...but it may be in Central FL

Ft Knox are real good...they have dealers in Mobile and Tallahassee
    Liberty's Made in USA line
Heritage Safe (Made In USA products)
AMSEC Safes are good ( Made In USA products
Browning Safes ( Made by ProSteel ) are good stuff

Check into AmSec safes. They have a BF line that is both burglary and fire resistant. The one I have is 6' tall with a 3/8 steel door then the secret sauce they use for additional protection. Mine empty weighs 1900 pounds empty. GL with your search, Research videos on YouTube, you will be amazed how easy it is to break into a safe if you have access to all sides.

I have seen an AMSEC BF7250 get tipped off a pallet and fall on its face. It took a forlift to stand it back up. It knocked holes in the cement garage floor. Stood it up...entered the combo...turned the handle...and opened the door.

raised 1st floor residential construction is designed to hold 600# in a 3' sq area...2nd floor 300# anything over that will need additional support.

Monolithic pour concrete slab. Due to the contents of the room you cannot tip it over. And if you tried you would probably squish yourself.

Are the safes at TSC any good? I see cannon and liberty.

I ordered a Steelwater safe. Read the reviews and did the research.

Thanks for all of the input. Almost bought a Liberty or browning. But decided on steelwater.

I would say they are near bottom of the barrel. I was looking at the 60 something gun cannon and it seemed cheap. It has an attractive price.

Looking at their high end unit that was a good choice if that is what you got. It will compare to some of the higher end Brownings (Medallion) built by ProSteel maybe better. It has a little thicker steel than the similar Browning where the Browning may have a little better electronics...a good choice.

Sometimes the brands that everybody has heard of aren’t necessarily the best, just the most popular due to price point.
Kinda like I’ve often heard the Marlin 60 is the most popular.22 rifle but that’s cuz it’s cheap, not the best.
In the same vein, everybody has heard of Pioneer stereos but many have not heard of McIntosh.
I personally have a Liberty Franklin and I’m happy with it. I bought it because it’s a good safe and I got a good deal at an estate sale but an AmSec, Fort Knox or Graffunder is a better safe and 2-3 times the price.

    Milton/ Allentown line…
Go to Mike Wards Liberty Safe in Mobile. They saved me a couple thousand dollars off compared to the local dealers in Jay, and Pensacola With delivery and install. I’m going to be purchasing my third gun safe as well as a floor safe for my wife’s jewels in our new home, and I will be headed over to Wards to get my safes. As far as what size I strongly recommend you get two sizes bigger than the biggest they make...

I talked to them, they didn’t have much in stock. And their prices were higher than Scott’s/Mike’s for the exact same Liberty models.
