This is intended to be a thought provoking, informative and a distraction from 24/7 WuFlu brain strain. It not about beating up our beloved United State of America but our faults and failures are of equal inmprtance to what's in school history books. We as a Country "should" have learned from our non-stellar moments, sometimes we haven't. We also post comments, reference Laws and say "the Gov can't because or these (Agency, officials, military, LE) would never....." Are you sure or have the already done it? All are welcome to Post topics related to the subject Title. You can just domp an interesting Link with a thought provoking lead line. You can also dump some narrative bullets like clues to a mystery and see if you can draw out the historic event from others searching, I'll start with on of these.

Hero's, Victims, or Bad Guys? What event connects them? Infantry with fixed bayonets and vomiting Agent gas, Cavalry, Tanks and Police: used against American Veterans and Citizens.

General Douglas MacArthur
His Aid was Maj Dwight D. Eisenhower
General Perry Miles
Maj George S. Patton
Big City Police
War Veterans and their families
Joe Angelo Who saved Pattons life in the Argonne

I left out a key player, who? Who broke the Law and what Law(s)? Answer and post a Link.

How about the Bonus Army protest of 1932.
Execellent! They weee also called the Bonus Expeditionary Forces borrowing on the veterans WW1 deployed title. The President Hebert C. Hoover was the unlisted Player who ordered the First attack even though the Washington D.C. Police Superintendent said police could handle it.
The Posse Comitatus Act restricted the use of the U.S. Army within the United States to emergencies beyond Local Control. There was also the the rumor of triggering Communist Riots in big cities (always throw in the Commie Cared for good measure). Hover gave the Order (ignoring local authorities and their jurisdiction) to push the protesters across the river: Violation. HOVER Ordered the attack Stopped at that point. Once the protesters were across ther river in their main Camp: Police drew their revolvers and shot at the veterans, killing two.

MacAuther ignored the President's Order: VIOLATION (justifying it as he thought the protester were trying to take over the Government). He launched a second Attacked, displacing and injuring more vats and their families, destroyed and burnt the Camp and personal possessions therein.

Similar hypotheticals regarding heavy handed gun control, Bans and Confiscations often include those that think the Gov "can't" or our Brothers in Mil/LE uniforms "won't". As we ofter say to the non gun crowd " Laws won't protect you from criminals, same goes for Government. These "Heros" swore Oaths too. A lot more detailsand a good read in the first Link, Law violated at bottom Link and in Uniform Code of Military Justice

I heard a story about 20 years or so ago when I was working in the DC area from an older man that he heard when he was growing up from someone at that time that lived in DC. Second hand source claimed he saw troops set up a 30 caliber machinegun to prevent the bonus marchers from getting into the city. When camp was hit by cavalry and armored cars some of the people headed toward the city from the camp and got shot down. If true that was never reported in the history books.

How about the Whiskey Rebellion?

Whiskey Rebellion, (1794), in American history, uprising that afforded the new U.S. government its first opportunity to establish federal authority by military means within state boundaries

At one time the US did maintain detention camps in case of national emergency as part of the federal prison system under what was "The Internal Security Act of 1950, 64 Stat. 987 (Public Law 81-831), also known as the Subversive Activities Control Act of 1950, the McCarran Act after its principal sponsor Sen. Pat McCarran (D-Nevada), or the Concentration Camp Law,[2] is a United States federal law. Congress enacted it over President Harry Truman's veto.

It was supposed to be only for communists, but had other provisons:
The Act also contained an emergency detention statute, giving the President the authority to apprehend and detain "each person as to whom there is a reasonable ground to believe that such person probably will engage in, or probably will conspire with others to engage in, acts of espionage or sabotage."[9]
Amended

Part of the Act was repealed by the Non-Detention Act of 1971 after facing public opposition, notably from Japanese Americans. President Richard Nixon, while signing the repeal bill, referred to the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II for historical context as to why the bill needed to be repealed.[19]
But overall our history is cleaner than that of many other nations if we exclude slavery and what was done to the native americans.

Our democratic republic system is terrible until you consider the alternatives.

There's the noted history of the Tax and Rebellion, there is also behind the scenes political manipulation. Some say Federal action to fully establish government authority/domination over the people, others say its just conspiracy theory but there is no doubt that specific actions led to specific events and results. Though the Rebellion was stopped, it cut a path for future Petition of the government and a Right to peacefully assemble and protest the government.

The treatment of Japanese Americans goes far beyond civil Rights violations. Good read below. My wife's Grandpa Schmidt a Carpenter, worker for about two years building and then expanding those camp in the NorthWest. His home town Ontario Oregon, had a large population of Japanese Americans with many owning large apple or sugar beet farms and local businesses. By the time he came back, they were all gone. Some farms and all businesses were sold by Banks or Gov Auction, a few just decayed and overgrown. Only three of those Family farms came back to prosperity after the War. My wife went to school with their grand kids.

We should all know about the Bay of Pigs but what other ways did the CIA plot to get rid of Fidel Castro?
The bay of pigs invasion was a complicated operation put together by the CIA and apparently Kennedy was not always on the same page as the anti-Fidelistas and the CIA.
Years ago I read an account of how the pro-Castro side explained the plan and it made sense relative to the planned goal. The invasion was into a low lying area with almost no roads to get out, but it was an excellent place to defend and set up a strong point. The pro-castro forces hit the anit-castro forces really hard before they could setup a strong point and raise a flag to declare that they had freed a portion of cuba. Next part of the plan was to call for USA forces. Kennedy backed off and was most unpopular with the American Cuban Community after that. IIRC correctly perhaps 1,400 were captured. I would have to ck with wiki over that. Cubans figured prominently in some of the kennedy assassination investigations/theories. I will not pursue that further here since previously that was deleted as tin foil here.
That is why the Russians were able to set up in Cuba since they offered Castro military protection & economic support and then we had the Cuban missile crisis. Khrushchev took the missiles out and we sort of agreed to not invade again.
I think Putin is showing some interest in Cuba. While not a communist he is a Russian Nationalist and had different goals from those of the USA and NATO.

Killing Castro with exploding cigars?
I like the novelty of the planned exploding sea shell. Though the CIA only admits (caught/leaked) about eight Plots, the Castro side reports over 600 (not all from the U.S. Gov). It also interesting that the CIA, Mafia and big business actually and conspiracy theory play into attempts on Castro and the assassination of President Kennedy. It's simple to conceive that Castro would want to reciprocate, that Mafia financial interest losses when Castro took over provide adequate motive and if the President Kennedy can't/won't fix the Cuban problem maybe the next President will. Lets slide Attorney General/pres Canidate Robert Kennedy's assassination in here too as his anti-mafia actions also severly hurt the mob. Since that time, there have been Presidential Executive Orders against assassinations and increased oversight of CIA/Intel/Covert gov actions by a dozen differently named Committees and a few investigations that are stonewalled at every step. Business goes on as usual.

Russian Nationalist, Socialist or Communist: they all drink from the same teat that feeds their brains. Just different hairs from the same mangy dog that's always trying to bite you. IMHO

The groups you mention could have provided the triggermen, but for the highest entities to cover it up with the Warren Commission and the FBI implies that someone(s) with tremendous juice was involved. First you set up a patsy to take the fall. Second you need to get someone that is dying from cancer to take the fall for killing the patsy on public TV and so on.

It could be as simple as Oswald wanted to do it and Ruby wanted revenge for doing it. That's the official version. No Committee, Commission or Investigation will ever get to the heart of our Gov Agencies clandestine operations. Only if someone rolls over (probably posthumously) from deep inside and high enough to know what's in most of the compartments, will the public be informed. It would have to be published by the media before the Gov knows its coming and then there would be a big disinformation/discredit campaign. Weeks later, nobody cares, just like the events in this Thread.

There were also a lot of suspicions about the ML King and Malcolm X Killings. The Kennedy Family in public kept their mouths shut about it, but the King family did make an appeal to Pres. Bill Clinton to no effect to look into the King killing.

The current younger generation does not care unless the media whips it up and tells them that they should care.
