Was just introduced to my first biting black fly of the season. Although he didn't make it, let the heat begin!

Our flies in Pace, FL are not the black type and look at this time of year are a yellow brown in color relative to the wings. Similar to what people in the north call a deer fly.

Down here on Perdido Bay, we call them Yellow Flies, and they showed up at dawn this morning.

Yellow flies is what most call them around here for sure, but the ones that bit me yesterday and buzzed me today after I sprayed myself were yellow brown to my less than perfect color vision.
But in any case they hurt, they bite, and they are highly anoying.

In the areas where you get bit, hang a beach ball, milk jug, etc. painted black or dark blue so that the wind will move it around and coat it with Tanglefoot. They will land on it and not leave.
