A 16" 6.8SPCII is the only gun you will ever need to hunt any critter in the SE and most animals in the US.
Hunters have been using them on black bear and elk at the reasonable ranges with the Barnes or Accubond bullets.
I have been shooting three of them for quite some time now. An 18",10.5" AR,and a Ruger Mini-14.
