What’s a fair price for small magnum pistol primers. I’ve got a guy wanting to trade some for 300 BLK ammo that I have. last time I bought any it was $30 a thousand. I’m not sure what it is these days.

Right now they're in high demand. Last time I bought some, it was 39/1k of CCI spp or 5/100 if you bought small quantities.

From quick research, they seem to still be in the $35-ish dollars per 1K for small magnum pistol primers (assuming someone can find them, out of stock everywhere). Of course online you'd add shipping and Hazmat fees.

Can anyone explain the difference in small pistol and small magnum pistol to me? I want to start reloading 9MM.

    Thanks.

IMO they are designed for the longer .38SPL and .357MAG cases with full case powder charges. A hotter flame if you will.. I'm sure others may have a different opine. We tested CCI550 in a 9mm load over the LabRadar over the weekend when CCI500 were running out. With the same powder charge of CFEPistol the round was 60-75fps faster with the Mag primer only change. I hope that helps with a starting point for the difference in the 2 for you.

And allow me to add - - -> this is with a extremely small powder volume capacity using small pinches of extremely fast burning powder.
You will not find anywhere near that increase with rifle ammo. Even small'ish 222Rem and 22Hornet. --- SAWMAN

The the 30 US M1 carbine cartridge might fit well with a small pistol magnum primer. I have only used rifle primers with it myself. The rifle primers might harder and perhaps safer to use in a semi-rifle platform. Carbine firing pin has no safety block to it like what is seen on a glock or a spring on it like is seen in a 1911.

I paid $40 per thousand over in Ft. Walton a few weeks ago. They were the only ones in stock in the world. So I bought them.

I have a feeling I might need more primers. Reloading was originally only going to be for my 6.5 Creedmoor and maybe some 9mm. So far I have tumbled and de-primed about 1K of 9mm and have another 1500 ready to de-prime. Still have 3 more pails of brass to clean and sort...

If anyone needs some, I will check my normal place that usually has some and purchase them. I will use them eventually. But I'm willing to help a fella out.
