I have to get some large trees taken down.

I would like to find someone that can turn them into lumber to finish my “office” (future gun room but don’t tell the wife).

    Anyone know anyone?

There was a member on here a couple years ago that purchased a portable saw mill. He was going to start a side business. I don’t remember his name or what happened to him. What kind of wood btw?

There is/was a guy named Bruce the wood guy off Hwy 98 in Elberta, AL that has a sawmill setup at his house. His Px is (251) 747-4423. FWIW, Hoods in Foley has pallets of rough sawn 1x6, 1x8, 1x10, 1x12 Red Mahogany that is really nice and about the same price as crappy pine boards at Lowes! Good luck!

This is live oak and Hickory that I cut down after Hurricane Michael. I used a buddies Wood Mizer with regular pine blades or bands. We had the wrong setup. Hardwoods wreck standard blades. I will never try this again with this setup.

Naval Live Oaks are incredibly dense, they made the USS Constitution out of them. It was reported British cannonballs would bounce off the hull hence the nick name "Old Ironsides".

When NADEP closed there were some oak timbers found under a parking lot near the paint hangar. A records search determined they were replacement timbers for the USS Constitution that had been buried there years ago for safe keeping. Apparently someone lost track of them.

I heard they were originally constructed from NLOs harvested around the Pensacola area so that makes sense. I'd be happy to donate several big ones on my property.

Hell live oak is a breeze try water oak. Btus are awsome in the fireplace.
I've bounced a maul off some of that, too. Tried wedges, too. While they sometimes worked, at other times they'd get a third of the way in and launch straight up on the next hit! I enjoy a little work/exercise, but those two woods drove me to buy a splitter.
