I’m in Bama but as a general rule I vote No to any tax hike, I’ve yet to see them show me that they have a true accountability of the money(of ours) they already have.

My 2 cents.. it pisses me off when they let people who dont own $hit vote on property taxes. Property owners should be allowed to vote ONLY and dont even mention "school taxes".

The sales tax would tax anyone that purchased at retail in SR county. We are still paying 7% sales tax and not the 7.5% that the BOCC wanted. Most of it goes to the state.

Just wondering . . . . how did a vote this lopsided ever become worthy of a taxpayer funded vote in the first place ?? (1/3rd -- 2/3rds)
All those "VOTE YES" commercials that were on prime time cost somebody something.
AND . . . the vote itself. How much did that cost the taxpayers ??
Watch out guys. Santa Rosa is becoming as crooked as Escambia. ---- SAWMAN

With all the extra people buying and paying sales tax and the huge influx of property developed in the county, where is all the new, extra money so-to-speak, going? Seems there would be plenty without extra taxes but I'm not a financial specialist.

The tax proposal on its own had a budget of $200,000 to get it to the ballot. I am guessing that at least the BOCC supporters spent another $100,000 up front. Earlier in the election people were saying it was 80K. We still need to consider actual cost of the election and people using their gas and time to go to the polls.

This is not over. Millions of dollars are in play and I cannot see the builders and their BOCC allies giving up so easily. Right now we are planning to put all of those BOCC up for re-election out of office in 2020.
Those of you in Escambia County need to get rid of the realtor dominated BOCC also. I remember how they treated the PRPC when realtors got their permits to completely surround it with houses. You already pay 7.5% over that way.

They want to spend a lot of on projects to build up and develop SR County. There is talk of bringing in a YMCA with financial support from the county and I am sure that they have a good buddy builder that with county funds will be ever so happy to build.
But no money for new school room space that is just about maxed out. They want to make it look good for future buyers with nice parks and community centers.

As of August the PAC, Moving Santa Rosa Forward, had amassed nearly $300K to "put out public information " i.e. buy the election. That was reported in the initial PNJ article. Then the slimy BOCC agrees to spend $200K of our money to have a special election to put the vote to the voters. Never mind if they had waited for another election it would have cost them nothing. You don't think that a new FL stature that goes into effect in 2020 that requires 66% of voters to approve such an increase had anything to do with their decision? Hmmmm, it takes 51% today, however, it will take 66% next year! What's a measly $200K when it's the voters money. I wonder what that $200K could have bought in terms of something that is really needed.

Vote out every one of the current, slimy, bought and paid for commissioners next election.

Hey I’m sending a private message because I don’t feel like the 500 other comments from everyone else lol. My friend met with people weeks ago so she could be more educated with her vote. They told her the plan was if approved (penny tax) they would begin widening woodbine road within the next 12 months. We were also going to get a YMCA. Those are just some things in our area that my friend was told by the county administrator.
Also the tax as nothing to do with new schools. They are planing to build a new school at 5 points. The state of Florida dictates who can build schools and when. They said we still have room in our area, which is why they re zoned people for this school year and will most likely do it again next year. They have to show we have no more room before they approve for our area to add a new public school. Plus that money comes from a completely different entity.

YES, lol, it is not in Pace where they want to build and sell housing. I think YMCAs are great, it just that the tax payers should not be footing the bill without us being asked for our permission to do.
All future elections for LOST sales tax will require 66% to pass under new laws which is why they called the special election for this year.

So how much is your hotel tax and where does that money go? As fast as Navarre is growing you would think there would be money to spread around the county. Not liking they are doing anything to improve Navarre that I see but I live in Okaloosa county so maybe I'm missing something.

Now the BOCC is going to discuss impact fees.

I just want to be sure everyone knows there is a BOCC Meeting tomorrow morning (Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019) at 8:00 am. Impact Fees are on the Agenda. The meetings are open to the public.

New claims or is it misinformation:

I can only assume as misinformation. To the best of what I know there has only been talk of what the extra revenues might be used for. In fact, the signs that listed everything that the additional sales tax increase could be used for was only a list that attempted to get anyone that had a pet interest to vote for the tax. The ploy didn't work with 67% of the voters!

I saw in the PNJ today that the BOCC is going to investigate impact fees. Quote from Sam Parker say that the voters sent a clear message in the vote that we want impact fees. Also quoted were several voters that blistered the BOCC saying that they were not listening to voters but instead listening to developers instead through the developers campaign contributions. I believe that the BOCC members that will be up for re-election are shaking in their boots. Rightfully so. too. Let's do a complete replacement of the BOCC. May-be starting from scratch will take the county in a direction that the voters want it to go instead of the special interests. Realistically, people with good intentions will ultimately become politicians and we will be ultimately be left in the same situation. A politician becomes a career politician, takes campaign contributions from special interest, and ultimately needs to be removed because of the undue influence.

The 1/2 cent/dollar LOST sales tax is still in force. So they have not of this moment lost any income except for the $225,000 that was spent for the LOST proposal to raise the salestax.
I agree the BOCC does not represent our interests and has lost the confidence of the voters. I would like some way to revoke many of the subdivision zoning and building permits. Many of them are defective relative to flooding.

Yes, the current 1/2 cent LOST will continue until 2021 at which time it will expire. I'm sure that they will bring it up again, perhaps 1 cent at that time. The BOCC better get busy on the impact fee real soon or else the voters will again reject the sales tax increase. If that happens our county will be in real deep dodo. Unquestionably, we have infrastructure problems. I thought it quite funny that in the PNJ article following the vote that a guy on the LOST committee that recommends projects said that we are in the current situation because the BOCC kept "kicking the can down the road" on correcting problems. Even he sees that the BOCC was not doing its job.

It pisses me off that they squandered over $200K on the special election. They thought that they could get it passed before the new law takes effect. What better use could they have put that $200K+ money towards?

I believe that your sentiments on revoking some of the building permits align with many other folks. However. That won't happen. They will never go back on the approvals.

I am so pissed of at the arrogance and contempt at the most recent zoning board meeting. Look at this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rC4...ktxSH7-jkjBNCGimbh-_da6iy4jG6qqOk-XzzMsgfNHPE

I was so angry that I sent this to my commissioner. I want to see what his response is. I suggest that you send something similar to your commissioner and get on record what his response is.

    Mr. Lynchard,

Do you endorse the comments stated by the county representatives at the following meeting:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rC4...ktxSH7-jkjBNCGimbh-_da6iy4jG6qqOk-XzzMsgfNHPE ?

If so, both you and these individuals have completely misread the sentiments of 67% of the voters in our county. Everyone I have talked with recognizes that we have infrastructure issues in our county. However, we feel that until those entities (developers) that are a major cause of our existing problems step up and financially contribute to the needed solutions, we will not approve additional taxes.

Wow. Only 1-minute and 6-seconds of board discussion, yet it captures perfectly what a bunch of crooked, spiteful, oblivious, and incompetent pieces of SHIT are sitting in those seats.

Every one of them can feel free to two-face defend their statements or honestly embrace them. Either way, they are fucking pathetic excuses for "public servants".

    They can all goto hell.
